Stays at Lakita Lodge run from Sunday to Friday, over five nights.
Lakita Lodge welcomes up to two parties at a time. Each of our two suites can accommodate two adults and two to three children, for a total capacity of four adults and up to six children.
Each stay is carefully composed before your arrival, based on your preferences. The program below is only an example: activities may take place in a different order and be adjusted depending on the group, weather and the rhythm of the lodge.

Day 1 — Arrival in Swedish Lapland
We meet you at the airport and drive you to Lakita Lodge, where the dogs, the fire and a first dinner welcome you into the rhythm of the North.

Day 2 — First Contact with the Dogs
The day may begin with the husky yard and an introduction to the dogs, the sled and the basics of mushing, followed by a short initiation outing on the trail. This first taste of travelling with the team helps build confidence before the fuller dog sledding adventure later in the stay, with time perhaps left for a journey along the riverbank in the afternoon.

Day 3 — Across the White Wilderness
A snowmobile adventure may take you deeper into the landscape, across forest trails, frozen lakes and open terrain, with the chance to spot wildlife along the way. Back at the lodge, the Spa & Wellness space offers a warm pause before dinner.

Day 4 — The Dog Sled Journey
With the dogs now familiar and the basics understood, this day may be dedicated to the full dog sledding adventure. Depending on your confidence, you may drive your own sled or ride with the guide, moving through forest, snow and frozen landscapes with the quiet power of the team.

Day 5 — Fire, Ice and Stillness
The day may bring ice fishing on a frozen lake, a snowshoe adventure through the boreal forest or a husky hike with your favourite companion. Back at the lodge, Isabelle Travadon may, when available, share stories and rare insight from her life as a long-distance musher.

Day 6 — Departure
After breakfast and a last goodbye to the dogs, we drive you back to the airport — with the beauty of Lapland and the thrill of the trail by sled and snowmobile still very much with you.

And if nature allows, the aurora may become part of one or more of your evenings — a magical spectacle beneath the northern sky, delivering emotions often difficult to put into words.
Lakita Lodge is not private by default. With only two suites, it remains highly intimate and personal, but another party may be staying at the lodge at the same time. Private booking of the entire lodge is possible, subject to availability.
Yes, exclusive use of the lodge is possible, depending on availability and group composition. Please contact us directly to discuss your stay.
Absolutely. Children from six years old are welcome at Lakita Lodge. Younger children may also be possible depending on family composition and activities planned; please contact us so we can discuss the logistics together. Activities are adapted in pace and distance for younger guests and each suite has its own children's bedroom.

Travel & Booking

Guests can fly to Hemavan Tärnaby Airport or Vilhelmina Airport, with connections through Stockholm Arlanda with airline PopulAir. On arrival, a private Lakita vehicle will meet you at the airport and drive you to the lodge through the beautiful taiga and boreal forest.
Our cancellation policy is detailed in our Terms & Conditions. Please refer to them at the time of booking or contact us if you have specific questions.

Experiences & Activities

Yes. Our guided outdoor adventures are privately led for each party, with the route and pace adapted to your preferences of the day. All experiences are operated internally which provides extra flexibility. Some lodge moments are shared with all guests, such as evening drinks, convivial dinners and, occasionally, aurora outings. The Spa & Wellness area is available to all lodge guests throughout the day.
Before your arrival, we shape your activity program together based on your preferences, your group and your appetite for adventure. Because all experiences are operated in-house, we keep some flexibility during your stay to adapt the program.
No previous experience is needed. Dog sledding, snowmobiling and other outdoor activities begin with an introduction and are adapted to your confidence, comfort and pace.
Activities are privately guided and operated in-house, allowing us to adapt the pace and intensity, but a basic level of fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the experience.
The Northern Lights can occur year-round, but they are only visible when the sky is dark enough. In Swedish Lapland, the best viewing period is generally from late August to early April, with the darkest winter months offering particularly beautiful conditions.
No. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed. They depend on solar activity, darkness and weather for clear visibility.

Other Practical questions

Winter in Lapland has several moods. Deep winter, from January to February, is usually colder, quieter and more atmospheric, with low light and a strong sense of stillness. March and April bring longer days, brighter landscapes and a softer winter feeling. Each period offers a different kind of beauty, and we will help you choose the moment that best fits the experience you are looking for.
Although we are in Swedish Lapland, the sun rises throughout the winter at Lakita Lodge. Daylight is limited in the deepest winter, then increases quickly as the season progresses. As an indication, there are around 7 hours of daylight in early December, around 6.5 hours in early January, around 8.5 hours in early February, around 12 hours in early March, and around 15.5 hours in early April.
Winter temperatures vary, but the cold here is usually dry and easier to enjoy than many expect. As an indication, temperatures often range from around -8°C to -15°C between December and March, becoming milder towards April. Colder days around -25°C can often occur, just as milder periods around 0°C are possible.
Yes. Allergies, intolerances, vegetarian and vegan requirements can be accommodated with full attention. We simply ask you to inform us well ahead of your stay so our chef can prepare accordingly.
High-quality winter gear is provided so you can stay warm and comfortable throughout your stay, including a parka, cold-weather pants, winter boots, mittens and a merino wool balaclava.
Once your stay is confirmed, we will send you a detailed packing list. We recommend bringing warm base layers, comfortable indoor clothes, swimwear, and your own ski jacket, ski pants and après-ski boots if you have them, so you can adjust your clothing to the temperature and activity. Our provided winter gear is very warm.
The team speaks English and French. Part of the team also speaks Swedish.
Yes, Wi-Fi is available at the lodge. That said, we gently encourage guests to use their stay as an opportunity to disconnect, slow down and fully enjoy the moment.
